Aloha Island Colony Partners,

Many owners have been contacting us with concerns on how the Covid-19 virus has impacted our hotel and how are we are handling the crisis.  Although we do not know how long this may continue, we want to assure you that we are working diligently and have been proactive in preparing for the impact of this situation and we are committed to putting full efforts in mitigating losses to the hotel program.

On March 21, 2020 the Governor issued a compliance with the State of Hawai’i stating that effective March 26, 2020 all people checking into hotels must undergo a 14-day mandatory self-quarantine. With this mandate, air travel has significantly declined, and Hawaiian Airlines reduced all air travel to interisland and only one HNL-LAX flight daily. Hawaii averages more than 30,000 arriving visitors daily, and as of April 1, the arrivals are below 1000 daily and with majority of this number being returning residents, crew members and less than a couple hundred being visitors.

Prior to the Covid-19, revenues and occupancy were exceeding last year’s pace. Within the last 3 weeks, we have seen more than $100K in cancellations for the month of March and about $200K in cancellations for the month of April. May has continued to decline daily as well.

As this epidemic continues over the next few weeks, and possibly a few months, we will continue to keep you apprised with new updates.  During this time, we are only staffing the bare minimum and our front desk department is complying with our grandfather hotel status and continues to operate 24 hours a day, with only one person per shift with managers handling front line duties when they are on shift.
